Bye-bye Smallville, Hello Blue Beetle?!?!

Geoff Johns tweeted the following:

BLUE BEETLE NEWS from DCE!! We have a live-action test of Jaime Reyes' scarab activating his suit. It. Is. Awesome.

Blue Beetle's going to appear in most of the Brave and the Bold's this year and we're hoping to develop a live-action show. Fingers crossed!

If I can break it out of the vault, I'll bring it to SDCC. LIVE ACTION BLUE BEETLE!!

I've actually never envisioned Blue Beetle as live action. I sincerely hope it translates well, that they stay true to the characters and make it as awesome as the comic. It seems like Jaime has really taken off as a character thanks to Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and I'm glad they're recognizing the character's potential with this.

I guess it's only in development now, so I suppose there's still the possibility it might go the way of "The Graysons", but it's still terribly exciting.

JAIME ♥♥♥ I actually just caught up on BB III in the past week so this is extra exciting. I'd love to see it as cartoon, but I will most definitely watch the crap out of a live action show.

I'm dubious... it could, of course, be PHENOMENAL, and I hope it will be, but DC live action tv... well, (imho), it tends to really suck.



I also worry that they'd jump straight to "Jaime finds a mysterious scarab", skip the legacy entirely, and basically write more of a Green Lantern story than a Blue Beetle one.

so, I have pretty much the same worries about the writing that I always have when I hear about a new tv show.

Ahahaha. I still think JLI would make an awesome sit-com (but they'd of course have to include Beetle and Booster).

But yeah, I hear ya. (OMG, if they do include the legacy aspect...flashbacks featuring Booster and Ted???)

My thoughts went: a) OMG JAIME YES b) WHAT IF IT SUCKS OH NO c) WHAT IF IT DOESN'T END UP GETTING MADE OH NO. except B and C are depressing so I'll stick with fixating on A right now.

Well, Jaime does have an excellent supporting cast. And as he is a teen, they wouldn't have to try and figure out long ago backstory.

Guy Gardner must make an appearance.
